That’s not far fetched at all. It was only in 1964 that SCOTUS ruled that state legislatures had to use districts of approximately equal population. Other forms of districting were ruled to violate the Equal Protection Clause. It wouldn’t even be that hard for today’s SCOTUS to strike this down, as the Equal Protection Clause, due to its generic language, tends to provide the weakest protection of any constitutional protection.

In Marshall Brain’s prophetic story Mana, American society as we recognize it fully collapses as automation takes over. The top few percent come up with a way to manage the surplus population.
They realize that the same automation that’s put everyone out of work also allows you to house vast numbers of people very cheaply. Out on cheap land in rural areas in the central US, they build vast government dorms meant to simply warehouse the surplus population. Then they revived the old vagrancy laws. Anyone who didn’t have the money to support themselves independently or wasn’t employed was sent to live in one of these dorms.
Imagine a single windowless concrete building capable of housing hundreds of thousands of people inside. It was basically an involuntary permanent dorm situation. You share a tiny room with roommates. You have access to plenty of free electronic entertainment. You get food and medical care in the automated facilities. But you are ultimately a prisoner. Hundreds of millions of people, the vast majority of the US population, was herded into these facilities and forgotten. And they added contraceptives to the water supply to provide a long-term solution to the surplus population problem.
I think of this when I hear of their plans for ICE to house detainees in former warehouses. Sure, mass murder is an option. But that’s a kind of thing that’s hard to hide, and it’s the kind of thing that makes people start taking up arms. If you know that getting brought in will get you sent to a death camp, then you have every incentive to resist violently.
Think of a facility like El Salvador’s CECOT.
Warehouses are pretty cheap. And when you house people at those densities, few guards are needed. Imagine tens of millions of people shoved into facilities like this, and then simply forgotten. No mass murder. No mass graves. Just tens of millions of people forced to live out the rest of their lives in horrible conditions until they die of disease or old age. Oh, and in sex-segregated facilities to ensure the next generation of ethnic minorities is never born.
I’m honestly surprised they haven’t built a factory city like China has, but where the “employees” are all the immigrants and the conditions are more like you describe.

It’s remarkably easy for the average person to believe all of America is collectively just like Trump, without realizing there’s a large swath of the American population who are vehemently against it who are being ignored.

The terrifying thing is that with modern construction and the wealth the US has at is disposal, we could afford to just lock up tens of millions of people and forget about them. Maybe the Nazis couldn’t, but we could. We have that ability.
CECOT takes 850 staff to house 40,000 people. That’s roughly one staff member per 50 prisoners. Let’s say detention staff in the US make $75k per year including pay and benefits. Let’s say staff cost is half the cost of detaining someone. That would mean that we could detain people in CECOT-like conditions for about $3,000 per person per year. To detain 100 million people would cost $300 billion a year. That is well within the capability of the US to pay for if there was will to do so. That’s less than a third of the US military budget.
The typical cost of housing prisoners in the US is around $40-50k per year. But that assumes normal prison conditions. Actual proper prisons with 2-3 prisoners to a cell, with various ancillary facilities such as libraries, gym space, etc. available to prisoners. If you just instead lock people in a big open warehouse, the cost per prisoner drops immensely.
This could easily be the end game for the neo Nazis. No need to create death camps. No need to dig mass graves. No risk of Tiktok filling up with images of thousands of corpses. No risk of the minorities realizing they have nothing to lose and taking up arms to resist being sent to the death camps. Just millions of ‘criminals’ being sent to prison - nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing to see here.
And for the “final solution?” You can have a non-lethal final solution if you’re patient enough. These millions would be housed in sex-segregated facilities. If you simply lock up all your ethnic minorities in sex-segregated facilities and wait? Well, eventually you won’t have any more ethnic minorities. The next generation will simply never be born. Hell, even if the regime can only manage to do it for 10-20 years, an entire generation would be missing. Even if the regime were toppled relatively quickly as far as these things go, you would still be looking at an eventual reduction of the ethnic minority population at a level proportional to what Jewish Europeans experienced in the Holocaust. It would still represent a massive permanent altering of the nation’s ethnic makeup. Keeping every racial minority from having kids for a decade would do that, even if no one was ever actually sent to a death camp.
It is sobering to realize that with modern technology and the staggering wealth of modern economies, we actually could afford to just lock up a third of the population and throw away the key. Ethnic cleansing without ever directly taking a single life.

Just at Treblinka alone the Nazis murdered 900,000 over a span of 18 months. The camp was staffed at any one time by 25 German officers and soldiers and 100 local workers. Almost all of the victims were murdered with the exhaust from a single tank engine. Other camps were generally much larger-scale operations because the Nazis were trying to extract useful work from their victims before murdering them; Treblinka was purely for mass murder.
Anyone who thinks the Nazis couldn’t have murdered a lot more people than they did if they had a little more time is misinformed.
