We require the headline match the article, currently reading “Israel accused of detaining Greta Thunberg in infested cell and making her hold flags”

Please make it match or we’ll have to remove it.

You can add the important quotes in the body of the post or a top level comment.

I will say one thing though:

It does feel like this is entirely unsurprising.

Israel have been doing everything in their power to prove they are straight up cartoon villains

And as for Thunberg? Much as as I admire her, it was a matter of time before her speaking truth to power resulted in something like this. If it hadn’t been Israel it would have been the Putin or Trump regimes.

But who knows, maybe now that it’s a white chick getting warcrimed, the bulk of first worlders might maybe possibly start giving a shit about this.

I doubt she’s surprised either. She knew something like this would happen, but her audience is people who would be surprised.

    “little Greta”

…ew. Who talks about an adult woman like that in the news?!

I mean, to anyone past their 20’s Greta is still basically a child. She’s only 22, and there’s a reason adults call them “college kids”.

I work with a bunch of people in their early 20’s, and 100% think of them as children. Sure they can vote, and maybe they’re old enough to drink. But they’re definitely not mature.

Will you morons stop nitpicking this? Contextually, for an older person, she’s still a child. Big whoop.

She was beaten and you daft imbeciles are outraged over the use of words.

You wonder why you get no progress? Because you’re a bucket of crabs nitpicking anything that isn’t perfect because that’s easier than actually doing something.

When you hit 40, you’ll definitely understand how young 22 still is.

I’m in my mid 30’s. Fuck off with all your smug “you’ll understand when you’re older” bullshit.

When you hit 40 you should goddamned know calling an adult ‘little’ is fucking disrespectful regardless of how old you happen to be or your outlook on how infantile younger people are.

There will always be bigger issues, the world is imperfect. This doesn’t mean any other smaller issue is somehow not valid or disqualified. Multiple issues exist and can be addressed at the same time.

She’s 4’10½"… She’s very small. Little is an adjective used to describe someone who is small. And it’s contextual here because you don’t really need to drag someone so little (…) off by their hair. You can just pretty much pick her up.

Israeli politics are pure Nazism. Palestine is one big concentration camp. Yet they wonder why some Palestinians try to retaliate against civilians too.

“The embassy has been able to meet with Greta,” reads the email. “She informed of dehydration. She has received insufficient amounts of both water and food. She also stated that she had developed rashes which she suspects were caused by bedbugs. She spoke of harsh treatment and said she had been sitting for long periods on hard surfaces.”

“Another detainee reportedly told another embassy that they had seen her [Thunberg] being forced to hold flags while pictures were taken. She wondered whether images of her had been distributed,” the Swedish ministry’s official added.

She got arrested and there might be some questionable treatment. That’s a far cry from doing “everything imaginable to her”. Quoting another flotilla member in your post who is obviously exaggerating is a bit disingenuous.

“I don’t disagree that she’s been treated inhumanely after capture while on an errand of mercy, but she hasn’t been subjected to literally every war crime” isn’t the gotcha you think it is.

You clearly have no idea about the evil that is Mossad, and what they are capable of. I have no doubt Mossad is involved in this, Thunberg is way to high profile for them not to be involved.
It is very clear from what we know now and you even quoted yourself, that Thunberg is being actively tortured, Mossad is just doing it in ways that don’t sound exactly as torture, but more like some rough handling. But it is in fact torture, and I have no doubt this will be concluded soon by experts too.

Oh definitely, but “questionable treatment” goes too far in the other direction. She suffered physical and mental abuse and humiliation, not “some questionable treatment.” If she was a POW this would’ve been a war crime.

I think we all agree on that. It’s just nice to make sure the truth is conveyed. I read that line in particular, and given Israel’s deeply troubling history, instantly worried about sexual assault.
