Pete Hegseth’s Department of Defense sent the White House an 11-page memo about the steps it has taken to comply with Donald Trump’s anti-trans executive order, according to a copy of the memo obtained by 404 Media using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

Among dozens of other actions, the Pentagon said that it not only changed the signs on bathroom doors to “reflect biological sex” but that it will continue to “monitor intimate spaces to ensure ongoing compliance” and that it will “continuously evaluate and update intimate spaces as necessary.”

You guys always say stuff like that; “It’s just a minority, we’re not all crazy racist pieces of shit”, but then most of the americans didn’t give a shit as the us slid into some sort of crazy and racist dictatorship, so I don’t know. Some of you might be good people 🤷

I think it’s kinda weird to assume there are any intrinsic traits about large, diverse groups of people. There are so many Americans of so many diverse backgrounds, that I think any generalizations we can make are gonna be wildly off for a great many people. It’s certainly true that most Americans did not act to prevent the current administration. However, most Americans are completely uninformed, propagandized to daily, and held down systemically so they don’t focus on their oppressors. Blaming the people is easy. They should’ve prevented this. They shouldn’t have been complacent. It’s their fault for the radical individualism.

I see this happen constantly, whether it’s American, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian, Israeli, Palestinian, British, etc… people, being blamed for the evils, perceived or otherwise, of their government. Often, these people are only as complicit as an abuse victim is to the person that has controlled their life and worldview to suit their own needs. Their actions and beliefs may be malicious, they may be indifferent, or they may simply be ineffective, but they receive the blame that would be more accurately aimed at those controlling their sources of information and communities.

Blaming the system takes more effort. There has been a slow, insidious, and very intentional subversion of American and global politics for decades, and it’s handwaved away as conservative buffoonery and incompetence, which while present, is a very incomplete part of a larger picture. This isn’t an election that people didn’t turn out for. This is decades of the subversion of a democracy, the media, and a gradual pressure placed against the entire working class to keep the focus on putting food on the table, and a new culture war punching bag for each election season. I don’t blame Americans. I blame the fascists that have snuck into government on populist platforms, and the people that should have been in positions to act as the safeguards who instead rolled over and gave in to the corruption.

No one is immune to propaganda. I can only hope that we rebuild better.

Imagine the mental gymnastics required to decide continuous monitoring of yourself in intimate spaces is more private than the chance a trans person could use a stall in the same bathroom.

This is what shows all their stated justifications are BS. They simply fear and hate trans people and will do whatever it takes to make their lives more difficult. Weird bathroom rules are just a good opportunity to make trans people suffer. All the nonsense about fairness and privacy is just after-the-fact justification.

What a bunch of creepy weird people. Always have their noses in business that does not concern them.

I know Hesgeth is big on “reviving the warrior ethos”, so apparently warriors need their intimate spaces monitored in order to accomplish that.

We trust them to fight and die on our behalf, but not to pee without pre-approval from the SecDef.

Years from now at the VFW:

“I was there at Chili Night back in ‘25. Not a square of Uncle Sam’s one ply to be found. I was down to my last roll myself. Then Johnny from the 7th Battalion comes through the latrine doors, packs of Charmin’ under both arms that he’s taken off an ICE detainee. After my recon to make sure all the platoon was carrying a pair of grenades in their BDUs instead of a foxhole, we handed it out and the men were ready to unleash the fury only US military mess halls can provide. Hoorah!”

The bathrooms at SEA airport are unisex. They’re great! The toilet stalls are large and totally private. There’s a special urinal area too. I honestly don’t know why more places, especially big public places, aren’t unisex.

My mind goes back to watching Maher interview Megyn Kelly and she was said that trans was her #1 issue. I am still just bowled over by someone of relative prominence saying such a crazy thing, but she is obviously not alone in that.

I find it just…baffling. It’s such a small group, WTAF. All the bathroom bills and the hand-wringing over “men in women’s sports”, JFC.
