“Unconstitutional third term” -that’s it, end of story. Unconstitutional means illegal. Gtfo

To me it’s incredible that there are still people saying “all this will be over in 2028” and “just vote him out in 3 years”. My brothers and sisters in Christ, looking at everything going on you remain so optimistic as to think there will be another election?

He can’t do a third term legally. But he can legally change what is legal. Additionally, he can remain president without a third term, e.g., if the US had an ongoing war, also legally.

Several recent Republicans running for US President were born outside of the USA, but still US citizens from birth. So logically one would assume that as long as you were a US citizen from birth you could be US President.

However, the Constitution says “natural born citizen” without explaining what that means.

My guess is that the current Supreme Court would come up with whatever ruling supported MAGA wishes and release it without explanation in the middle of the night on the weekend, as has become their custom.

As opposed to what? Hoping shit just works out for the best if you just click your heels together and wish hard enough?

Grow up. This is the real world. You’re literally watching your country’s constitution be shit on and you can’t even be bothered to care as long as the corporate oligarchs keep you sedated with your shiny toys and your marvel movies.

I guarantee you that anyone who themselves came from a dictatorship or had parents who came from a dictatorship (like my parents) is shaking their fucking heads at how idiotic your pacifist “trust the polls” attitude is, as though Trump hasn’t already got his people running every single part of the election apparatus.

I stopped engaging with anyone about this because i just grew too tired and that was back in 2020 before the election. Some kid I went to highschool with that I had recently reconnected with, was posting positive shit about Trump and saying he was just joking about a 3rd term, etc etc, when Trump first hinted at this illegal 3rd term idea. I tried explaining, why is he talking about a 3rd term when he hasn’t even secured his 2nd term, he is dead serious about wanting a 3rd term dude, its obvious and he just couldn’t see it or believe it. Its all a joke, locker talk, etc. The usual.

I have totally given up engaging with these people, maybe other people have the energy to slowly and kindly walk them through to the acceptance phase of who Trump truly is, but I don’t.

… and the dumbest part of that statement is that America has completely normalized it.

He says dumb things, America doesn’t take it seriously, he acts on whatever dumb thing he says, America shrugs their shoulders, he goes on to say even dumber things.

Trump is only half the problem in all this.

Trump’s public statements during his first term were found to be “false or misleading” on average 60% of the time. If you tried to take everything he says seriously, you’d die of exhaustion. Merely taking him at his word is not any kind of solution.

The mind blowing thing is that if, in any other job in America, a majority of things out of someone’s mouth were all about their plans to do highly illegal things that would hurt people, they’d have been hauled off long ago and “It was just a joke, bro!” wouldn’t be a valid defense.

This clown from hell jokes about harming and killing people every day, and follows through with it.

He jokes about breaking fundamental laws every day, and follows through with it.

It’s such a major flaw in our system that there’s seemingly no way to haul him away for repeated failures and egregious criminal harms to the entire country.

It’s the typical narcissistic sociopath trial balloon method, and I agree the news is (intentionally or not) complicit. You test boundaries constantly, break the ones that are not strong enough to resist, and wear down the others by normalizing it.

First others say it, then joking about it, then saying earnestly he’d like it, next is “exploring options.” By 2027, he’ll be normalizing actively campaigning, and by 2028 he’ll be on every GOP- and GOP-controlled purple-state ballot, with expedited Supreme Court shadow docket decisions pending to force it on the rest of the states.

This is fucking stupid. Just try to get an amendment passed allowing this if you’re so sure. If you can convince 2/3 of each chamber and 3/4 of the states, maybe it’s the will of the people.

The obvious distraction about the dictator for life building up his gestapo, building camps, silencing speech, and crashing the economy harder than we’ve seen in history?

He could abuse a child on national television, and while there would be outcry and he’d lose a few people, he’d have more than enough support to die in office of old age without ever being removed. That’s how powerful the cult is, and that’s how absolute the his power as president.
