I think the real fear is that there won’t be a draft because one is needed, but because they want to selectively get rid of left wing voters and using them as chaffe for a war in the middle east is dual purpose.
There was a theory that that is why Trump is so obsessed with getting state voter rolls
Out of all the things that this administration has done, a draft would be by far the most unpopular. Like actual civil unrest unpopular, not just a No Kings protest.
Conscripts don’t make good soldiers, and leaders have known this for centuries. You’d have millions of draftees who would be conscientious objectors at best and active saboteurs at worst. They wouldn’t just be lining up to be cannon fodder.
Congress knows all this and so would never approve a draft, probably never again to be honest and least of all in a massively unpopular war.
I agree completely, but this congress and administration have shown time and time again that they refuse to learn from history (e.g. The Vietnam War) so it wouldn’t surprise me if the idea at least gets thrown to vote in Congress, which hopefully is enough to ignite more serious protests/riots in the country to dissuade this current trend. This is why people are floating the possibility of one now, to sow the idea to US masses and get a gauge of their reaction.
We’re seeing 50 years of underfunding education in action.
We have over 2 million service members including reserves, more than any other country except China and India. There won’t be a draft.

If they implemented a draft things would definitely blow
