Always ask them “What’s your plan?” That usually shuts them up or makes them admit they have no plans.

My desire to see my favorite acts is greater than my desire to take trust busting upon myself. I can and do see shows at my local dives but I’m not going to abandon my favorite bands just because more people like them than before.

That’s just punishing both artists and long-time loyal fans for the artists being popular. It’s not their fault that there’s a monopoly on venues bigger than hyper-local clubs and bars.

The problem with this, if you follow it to its natural conclusion, is that the “best” local bands eventually popular enough that they’re playing Ticketmaster/Livenation venues.

It sucks that it takes gas prices. But I’d rather have someone do the right thing for the wrong reason than not at all.

“illegal war” is a pretty nonsensical phrase if you think about it

I’ve also seen people paint Biss as an “establishment Democrat” which is a term often used to mean “established politician whom the community trusts.”
Policy-wise, Kat and Biss and almost the same. Biss is a progressive Democrat, not some old neoliberal

Kat did pretty well but she has no trust from the community. She moved here less than 2 years ago. Daniel Biss, on the other hand, has been involved in local politics for a long time and has built up a lot of goodwill among his constituents.
If Kat runs here again in 4 years, I suspect she has a great chance of winning. But you can’t just roll in because an incumbent is retiring and expect a social media blitz will win you a seat at 26 years old.

Conan has no fear of being canceled. He was canceled once and turned it into a sold out tour.

Yes. It’s about visibility. Both to each other and to our elected officials.
