He’s a douchey nepo baby who comes off as an insufferable jackass… Seriously, his mom made him intern at his uncle’s company (The Young Turks) and when his uncle needed someone to fill in, he picked his nephew.

Who immediately quit the internship and became a fulltime streamer.

He is a lot like the far right streamers that neoliberals want.

But he’s not what the vast majority of the Dem voting base wants.

And it has absolutely nothing to do with any policy position he may or may not have. Because he didn’t get into this for politics, he wants the attention of being a streamer and he saw an opening.

He’s not a political activist who streams, he’s a streamer that will say anything to get famous, and we don’t need people like that attached to the party.

He wants to sit on twitch 8 hrs a day and say vote D? Awesome, more power to him.

But he’s clearly saying whatever gets him attention, and shit is too important to legitimize him when that’s all he cares about

Did he endorse Democrats in the 2020 election? He was kicked out of the Democrat convention because he was anti Israel.

Im not sure if you’re confusing a whole bunch of things together and not understanding any of them…

Or if the twitch brainrot is making you talk about 5 different things in two sentences.

Can you try that comment again if you need help understanding something?

I don’t watch twitch. Im not a big fan of streamers. But i do like politics and try to pay attention. Hassan was not in favor of Biden or Harris afaik. He is pro- Palestine and when he went to the democratic national convention here tried to get Democrats to reject Israel. They kicked him out after the first day

and when he went to the democratic national convention

            In 2024…

            After being invited…

And he said on stream it was because he had made pro-Istael comments in the past, but why the fuck did they invite him?

He’s a grifter, stop taking his words as gospel on what happened, especially if you hearing it from people who don’t even know what election it was

He has fans, you don’t. So your words fall flat.

And if he was such a bad person, he wouldn’t have so many people character assassinating him. I don’t watch his show, but if Israel and their superfans hate him, he’s not all bad.

Exactly what I’m talking about …

Sub him out for trump, musk, kirk, any far right Nazi…

And you really see the same defenses come up

Every time someone disagrees with Israel we are plagued by people character assassinating them for other reasons, even on lemmy, and especially from lemmyworld.

            So?

            Check it out:

Israel has cancelled like 5 elections and shouldn’t be called a democracy anymore, Bibi isn’t going to stop the genocides, and he’s not letting “democracy” be one of the options.

By your logic, you now have to support me despite anything else.

I hope you understand how ridiculous it is to believe everything else someone says if they believe one true thing.

Like buddy, that’s fucking propaganda in a nutshell.

I’m so glad that I immediately go for the “Do Not Recommend Channel” whenever I see him on YouTube. I genuinely think it’s made a positive difference in my blood pressure / stress levels.

It’s just like everyone looked at alt-right young Nazi streamers, and learned all the wrong lessons…

        Literally:

The show’s name Young Turks has been criticized and called for change[35] due to the original Young Turks political movement in the Ottoman Empire being responsible for committing the Armenian genocide, the Assyrian genocide, and the Greek genocide.[37][36] Alex Galitsky, who works for the Armenian National Committee of America, stated “If a group decided to call themselves ‘the Young Nazis’, and pitched themselves as a disruptor or anti-establishment news outlet, people would be rightly outraged”.[37]

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cenk_Uygur#Controversies

That’s his uncle that mentored him… Those are the people who shaped his political opinions

There’s plenty of actual progressive streamers, hell, Kat has an open schedule, and people actually like her.

The only people who like Hasan, are people who want to piss off people who disagree with them.

If we’re gonna piss of Nazis, there’s better ways to do it than hanging out with different flavors of bigots and genocide enthusiasts.

The show’s name Young Turks has been criticized and called for change

And that makes him a literal Nazi? So they’re Turks who can’t call themselves Turks. They’re young but can’t call themselves young. And intemperate comments by his uncle are Hasan’s fault? That’s guilt by association.

What the article studiously avoids (and I don’t see you mentioning it either) is the reason for the objections of centrist Democrats to Piker’s presence: that he has called the Israeli genocide against the people of Gaza a genocide. It might not be a coincidence that the loudest complaints are coming from Democrats who are recipients of AIPAC funding.

As for other genocides that happened a century or more ago, someone should ask Piker. Maybe also ask him his view on the US’s genocide against Native Americans, the US’s long involvement in the genocidal slave trade, and while we’re at it, the Holodomor, and why not Julius Caesar’s genocide against the Gauls too. But in the meantime, his position has been consistent on the genocide that’s actually happening now with the US government’s collusion, where a change of a party’s policy might actually make some difference.

And just to declare an interest: I recognize every one of those genocides as genocides. History is a nightmare from which we’re trying to awake. We should start from facts and not sweep things under the rug. And I’m no great fan of Hasan or Cenk: I prefer podcasters who can better modulate their hyperbole and keep a better lid on performative outrage.

But if it walks like character assassination and quacks like character assassination, I draw the most probable conclusion.
