Is anyone going to raise the question? Why do we have such elderly people in control of our country that them tripping is newsworthy? “40 year old tripped” wouldn’t even make a footnote. “83 year old tripped” makes the headline. Maybe our leadership shouldn’t be frail, brittle-boned octogenarians? Just a thought.

Because it is easier to defend a sitting candidate than advance a new one, and the corporate oligarchs that manage our democracy prefer reliability to efficiency.

Besides, what is the House/Senate not doing that the ruling class might want them to do? They all vote exactly how they’re told.

Maybe our leadership shouldn’t be frail, brittle-boned octogenarians?

So long as the paymasters are getting what they demand, who cares?

The purpose of Congress is to gatekeep the legislative process, not to look young and pretty.

No, you’re the first person to ask it. Especially here on Lemmy.

Old people have all the money, so they own politicians. They want people who are pliable and know the game, so you get these rigid shitpuppets who never go away
