Most Americans still think their taxes are too high, according to recent polls, even after last year’s tax law fulfilled several of Donald Trump’s tax-related campaign promises.

In fact, a new Fox News poll indicates people are more upset about taxes than they were last year.

The findings from the survey, which was conducted in late March, are another sign that Americans are on edge about their personal finances as the U.S. experiences a spike in inflation and sluggish economic growth.

Other polling finds that frustration goes beyond personal tax obligations, with many believing that wealthy people and corporations are not paying their fair share, while others worry about government waste.

It’s not that my taxes are too high. It’s that the hyper-rich don’t pay enough.

I don’t mind taxes! As I’ve said repeatedly, civilization is expensive and can only be paid for on the installment plan. I’m happy to contribute my bit to keep things running. But when the rich won’t pay their fair share…well that just fuckin’ pisses me off.

Every dollar spent on wars of aggression signal that my tax dollars aren’t that needed. They can apparently waste billions killing children, which to my knowledge is not a primary function of most governments, so how desperately do they need the money I send? That being said, I agree that in general taxes are needed and the rich don’t pay enough. It just makes me sad to know that although I can afford some changes in taxation, there are families out there that really can’t and the government isn’t tightening its belt in the areas needed and is just making things more expensive. We need less wars and more healthcare and education, yet our president is going around saying the exact opposite. Every person that has died in the war, every person that has died because of ICE, every person that has been stripped of house and food and life because of our military support of other nations is an indictment against the idea that anyone, rich or otherwise, need to pay more in taxes at the moment. I think that really affects people’s perception of how much they really need to be paying.

Well, that, and the rich fucks are very fucking obviously dumping our taxpayer money into their own accounts while overtly manipulating the market in ways that people not affiliated with the regime would be prosecuted for, in addition to executing the most pants-on-head idiotic geopolitical strategy in modern history, simultaneously starting a bunch of completely unnecessary and fully unjustified wars for no reason other than to distract from credible and pervasive allegations of lurid sexual abuse and pedophilia. Oh and they’re pushing theocratic idiocy too. And concentration camps. And summary executions. And we can go on, but you get the idea.

I fucking hate that my taxpayer dollars are paying for all of this. Genuinely makes me want to seek citizenship elsewhere and so I can renounce my US citizenship.
