Looking at the map, a complete aerial blockage of the UK-Iran theater route could be accomplished if Poland gets on board, along with either Germany (not likely imo), or both Czechia and Italy. That would force any aerial logistics to route around the strait of Gibraltar and through the Mediterranean - effectively removing the UK and Germany as effective logistical hubs for the Iran war.

Tbh I think he’s being kept around as a scapegoat. But also, yeah, I 100% expect his being brown to be used as part of that scapegoating (à la “if only a good ol’ white boy were in charge, we wouldn’t be in this mess shakes head”).
It’s also emblematic of the regime’s (very well known, at this point) modus operandi: do so much bullshit so fast and so constantly that the bureaucracy can’t keep up, and you end up getting what you want, despite not “winning”. It’s fait accompli.
Honestly though, if the Supreme Court were doing their job even slightly properly, the response from the justices to that facile punt of an answer to a very obvious question should have been to utterly excoriate the lawyer - up to, and hopefully including, dismissal with prejudice. The response that fucker gave shows a very obvious lack of preparedness and consideration - or more likely, very thinly veiled contempt of the court.
You can absolutely cause catastrophic damage to a commercial airliner with lasers that are designed to melt drone components.
Just aim it at the engine intake, something will deform or melt due to temperature, and in a second or two, you’ve got a first stage compressor that’s eating itself.
Or if you want to fuck with control authority, melt parts of the elevators while it’s coming in for landing so they lose pitch control. Which is, you know, kind of important.

In the context of this shitty situation, this is pretty much the absolute least controversial point of the whole thing. Iran supplied shaheds, as well as the design (which Russia proceeded to refine and mass produce and use against Ukraine). Iran has effectively been actively hostile towards Ukraine for years before Operation Epstein Feelings kicked off. What the actual fuck did they think was gonna happen?
To be clear: the Iran War is absolutely, categorically, pants-on-head stupid, and is an awful idea for a multitude of reasons from a multitude of domains. But this specific aspect of it is entirely uncontroversial.
