Anyway, it provides convenient shorthand for something you just read/hear all the freaking time. It’s like ever since I became politically aware, decades ago, it’s been there, but hard to put a name to. I’m sure this goes way, way back to at least the 1950s: “The Democrats made the Republicans form the John Birch Society!”
