Higgins, who chairs the House Oversight Committee’s subcommittee on federal law enforcement, argued restrictions are not censorship but a defense of constitutional order. “The reasonable restriction of public statements that lie far beyond the standards of our own society is not an oppression of free speech. It is, rather, the protection of free speech,” he claimed.

    Insert 1984 slogan here.

    *edit: glad he’s dead.

Didn’t republicans make truth social and the other rightwing shitholes specifically because “tHeY’rE cEnSoRiNg Us” for saying shit more vile than what they’re throwing a fit about now?

It’s almost like they want censorship for everyone but themselves.

They want their speech out of their hate-infested echo chambers so that they can start infecting more of the populace.

Fascists don’t believe in the meaning of words.

They are free to play in bad faith, while libs waste time and energy debating their bad faith arguments; exactly what the bad faith actor wanted.

          Exactly.

Words are nothing but weapons to them, tactics to distract, demoralize, dogwhistle, whatever.

You do not speak to a fascist with words.

You speak to them with a fucking baseball bat.

… not like they would ever do any good with a working jaw anyway.
