Not content with just shipping people to a foreign concentration camp, Donald Trump now has his own, homegrown concentration camp in Florida.

Trump, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gleefully toured the hastily constructed concentration camp in the Florida Everglades, obnoxiously referred to as Alligator Alcatraz, in reference to (1) the infamous island prison in San Francisco that Trump is obsessed with and (2) the number of alligators (and crocodiles — the one place in the world that has both) that live in and around the Everglades.

There’s no way to look at what the US government is doing here and not think of it more as Auschwitz than Alcatraz. The parallels are unmistakable: hastily constructed camps in remote locations, euphemistic naming designed to obscure their true purpose, and—most tellingly—officials proudly touring the facilities while discussing plans to build “a system” of such camps nationwide.

MERCHANDISE? MERCHANDISE LIKE IT’S A GODDAMMNED THEME PARK!

and BTW, Trump doesn’t care that it’s flooding. That’s the idea. He wants prisoners to get sick and die

This is how he works. He starts with an “outlandish claim” that no one takes seriously, and then repeats it until the average citizen becomes desensitized. First it’s just “the worst of the worst” then it’s just “violent criminals” then just “criminals” then “illegals…”. Next thing you know, it’s so normalized that he’s selling merch in celebration.

It’s important to know his pattern, especially considering he’s been talking about deporting US citizens for two months now, and the Republicans in Congress have already granted him the authority to do so.

So like, I see the idea to turn this into straight up slavery, but given the amount of death they intend to cause (258,000,000 people remember) I’m pretty certain their going to need to start massacring people.

The reason I say that is because fascists aren’t patient enough for disease and famine to do it. But I also don’t think theyre just going to march these people into fields and shoot em all, that would probably draw unwanted attention.

That’s the part that really scares me. Once they disappear people we know they’ll end up in concentration camps, but I presume like the Nazis, they hid the extermination facilities within or away from concentration camps.

We need to find those before they can be used.

The $175 billion in new ICE funding that’s coming with this spending bill is what they’ll use to build it. Follow that money and you’ll find the mass extermination facilities.

Good question, maybe FOIA requests but it will probably be all redacted for “national security concerns.” Congress should be able to get the info as well, and could release it at their discretion.

Do we need to make tacky tourist Auschwitz merch just to prove a point?

Does it matter if MAGA would proudly buy them?
