Just a person who likes media that you actually can hold in your hands and computers that only do what you tell them to.

I say this to be fair, since I’ve used Debian since almost the very beginning: Debian is a bit more complicated to set up.
I generally find when people ask me for help, they’re either on Ubuntu or on Fedora (in which case I direct them to someone else for help). Sometimes they’re gamers or using something where Debian + tweaks is ideal, but often I just help them configure Debian, or just help them get their Ubuntu where they want it.
I don’t know, this was for a system on kubuntu 24.04, the latest up there. I removed it, replaced it with debian and kde - my friend isn’t a gamer, doesn’t require anything bleeding edge, so that was just a better choice in our opinion.
Only tangentially related - but a friend brought over a new kubuntu install and Canonical had the cheek to demand money for VLC patches? They don’t fing own VLC. What the actual f is going on over there, Canonical?
I just recently de-snapped yet another ubuntu system. Couldn’t agree more. I use debian standard for all of my stuff, and I agree with your ranking.
Not a leftie, but D) Spouse of a citizen should be a citizen. How is this even a fucking question.
I just went with independent, which removes me from the “primaries”, but also removed me from all the non-stop text messages and phone calls begging for money to support a party that does little more than shrug non-committaly.
So, no? I’m from the US, I don’t really get a choice in ISP, phone network, or political representative, but boy I sure do get to pick from a number of different cereals.
I am more active at the very local level, though, which seems to be the only place an individual can have impact.
Stuff like this is why I left the dem party, they’re only strong opponents to progressives, not conservatives. The best summary I ever saw of them was: GOP: “fascism” DNC: “fascism ✨🏳️🌈”
This feels like clickbait - I find it hard to believe the writers of this piece are unaware of the protests. The better question, perhaps, is “why does media refuse to cover the protests”, and the answer to that is obvious - the media (damn near all of it) is controlled by the very oliarchs we’re protesting.
Can’t think of any times when “undesireables” have been sent to prisons/gulags in other countries. Nope. Nothing springs to mind…
I think even UK common law has something to say about that, some kind of Magna Carta? We regressed right back to pre-constitutional monarchy, do not pass go.
Dude literally pointed to his friends who made a killing on it, and posted “buy” info on his socials before reversing.
If we had any kind of system of laws, that’d be jail time.
TBF, Target largely brought this on themselves before the DEI stuff. They’re more expensive here than a proper dept store, and everything is locked in plastic and takes forever to get.
Can’t boycott what I already wasn’t using.
I’ve always assumed that was the whole point

Probably my faves. There’s a few others on pixelfed/mastodon that I follow as well, but more special interest
KDE. I’ve been using it as my daily driver for roughly 10 years now, and barring any unforeseen excitement, it’ll stay that way indefinitely. Proably until I stop using Linux, anyhow.
Well, there’s certainly some rallies. I’ve attended a couple, but we’re certainly getting low on polite options.
