Use it everyday. I self host a number of fedi services. It’s a great os.
Most of the apps are great, but there are a couple that are no longer maintained.
If only there were websites that don’t care /s.
Good.
PopOS is very stable as a desktop. It also keeps up to date with packages better than base Ubuntu in my opinion.
Oh nice! I can’t see very well on phone.
Debian is supposedly coming to android. That would be cool.
Links2 is obviously the best browser. #links2gang
But librewolf is pretty neat.
Yep and you can dictate the sync time. It’s great.
I want to give it a shot at some point! It just looks complicated
I’m not sure how I like at protocol being the thing that makes this happen, but I’m glad others are working on the issue! Maybe I’ll change my mind later but it’s still to close to a million dollar company for my taste
It doesn’t. But code becomes p2p with no one organizer.
I can’t wait for federated git prs/issues.
Ive been using it for a couple years now. Its solid. Super easy to host via docker or yunohost. It can mass import/export as well.
Interesting! I’ll have to give that a shot sometime.
Try old.lemmy.world or piefed, both I believe you can login with links2

One place I worked at just gave people Linux computers without telling them and disabled the boot image. The job was mostly online Salesforce, so Chrome got them through everything. Imaging was a breeze. We even made it kinda look like windows. No one really commented on it. We didnt hide it from anyone but we didnt go out of our way to make a big deal out of it.
Linux works when people stop thinking of it as “Linux”. Its “Android” or “Steam OS” or “My smart TV” etc… All you need to do is rename it and suddenly they are ok with it.
I’ve done it twice. Easiest is using yunohost, second is using their docker container. Both require a bit of a sysafmin background for anything with more than 10 users, at least right now.
The times I did it, I went through their official documentation and their Docker files.
