How many people would have recognized that image as a Nazi symbol before thos became news? I wouldn’t have, skull tatoos are common.
That just makes a stronger case against him. It is what it is–a nazi symbol used by the nazis. Not being familiar with it just means you’re an average person who hasn’t learned about all their symbols beyond the infamous swastika. The main people who are most likely to recognize it are either people who are into WWII history or people who are into nazi shit. Among those two groups of people, someone who would actually tattoo it over their heart are in the latter, not the former group, certainly not the average person. He has (finally) admitted he knew what it was.

Sorry, he’s a nazi who only removed his tattoo when it became known about, and lied that he didn’t know what it was. He’s running as a Dem just because that gives him better odds to win in Maine. (edit: And even if he didn’t have the tat his Blackwater history would disqualify him in my book.)
In this case I’d go for the ‘old dinosaur’ since
she might die or have to leave early and then you could replace her in a special election
She’s neither a repub nor a fucking nazi.

They probably use an AI to go through and add links to key phrases.

Antifa isn’t an organization at all, it’s just an abbreviated version of the adjective ‘anti-fascist’ that people have been using to describe themselves to show they stand against fascism.
I mean, the regime can make up any name they want, designate it or any organization they don’t like as a terrorist organization, then just say that whoever they want to arrest is a member of it.
Part of what’s making it easier for them to do this with ‘antifa’ is that it was probably a mistake to abbreviate ‘fascist’ as ‘fa’ in the first place, which means the average person may not understand what ‘antifa’ actually means. If the full term ‘anti-fascist’ had been used all along, it would be harder for them to say “anti-fascism is bad!” or “the anti-fascists are bad!” Because they’d be saying they’re the opposite of that, i.e., openly calling themselves fascists (which TBH they don’t seem to have a problem with).

Yep! I watched it multiple times. It both makes me feel good and makes me cry at the same time.

Thanks, that’s amazing.

He has to report to the judge every day at 5:45 and go over every use of force that day, along with providing the body cam footage, and her ruling will depend on what happened not violating her orders. THAT is what will fix things.
The whole article is really good. She made it very clear she’s not going to let him get away with his shit.

The judge was being sarcastic.

Thank you, Judge Ellis, and please stay safe.

omg. trump said “drop a glass of water on it and I don’t know what’ll happen”–as if the brief amount of time a glass of water ran over the magnet would ruin it. He didn’t say soak it in water or keep it wet for a long period of time. Obviously metal rusts over time if not kept dry. You’re grasping at straws trying to defend trump.

You might read the article where that line about dropping a glass of water on a magnet and he doesn’t know what will happen is just one example of a long pattern of his complaining about magnets (and sorry to disappoint you but drop a glass of water on a magnet and nothing will happen).
I suspect the whole ranting about magnets relates to the trade war with China which is by far our main source of rare earth materials including for rare earth magnets, and he seems of generalize them to all magnets. But the point is he says he’s going to sign an EO that they can’t use the magnetic elevators on aircraft carriers because of his mindset about magnets. Sure, I guess if the ship sank, there could be damage to the magnets in the new elevators, but that wouldn’t exactly be the biggest problem at that point.

It doesn’t really matter what scientific information has been given about magnets, we see before us what his brain turned it into.

Exactly. People need to understand and accept that rationality has no place in their world view and start acting accordingly instead of clinging to hope they can ever be rehabilitated through suffering from trump’s policies.
The stories we see about magats being upset with him are nothing but “feel-good” copium. Sure, there may be a few cases where someone has become disillusioned with him, but those are amplified and exaggerated way out of proportion. 99% of them are still fully supportive of him and love what he’s doing and they will never turn on him.
In their view, trump is divinely appointed by God to lead America to the Promised Land. It all fits with their Christian Nationalist religion, where anything good that happens is thanks to God and anything bad is because of Satan. Of course this perfectly translates to all good is from Savior Trump and all bad is from the Demon-crats!

This story once again reminds me of how chillingly close we came to dictatorship during that 2020 election. Sadly, trump’s failure to cling to power then only bought us 4 years.
There were so many WIMPS, so many chances to stop him wasted by cowardice. Two impeachments where repubs protected him (they hated his power over them and had two chances to exercise their own power and get rid of him once and for all–since he wouldn’t have been able to run again if they’d convicted him.
Then after the almost miraculous ousting of him, Biden and the Dems refused take action to stop him: He should have had him arrested for Jan 6 and/or other crimes - but no, Biden appointed Merrick Garland who – speaking of the word wimp --makes Pence look like Captain America.
Dems could also have passed any of a number of laws that would have made it difficult or impossible for him to run again (they did pass a couple of useful but wimpy laws). Biden and Congress could have expanded the Supreme Court. So many opportunities to shore up our democracy, just thrown away for lack of courage to meet the moment.

I think it’s more the >4 years standing next to trump gazing admiringly at him raving incoherently that’ll make him go down as a wimp.

Same. Cognitive dissonance allows me to both acknowledge reality and cling to hope at the same time. You never know if it’s really hopeless until you’ve actually hit the rocks, so let’s go ahead and try to make that parachute.
I live in a red state but I’ve still always voted so it won’t be that different for me anyway. 🥲

Canadian government needs to buck up and reinstate the Digital Services Tax, which they scrapped to curry favor with trump in hopes of getting him to lower tariffs. By now they should have learned–capitulating to the bully doesn’t work. You have to punch right back and harder.

All “normal” routes were already lost as of Jan. 20th when they took power and threw away the Constitution. With one party and the SCOTUS on their side it’ll be almost impossible to dislodge them using peaceful means. There may still be a chance to save what scraps of democracy remain at the state and local levels and try to rebuild from there but to succeed that way will take a generation or more.
It’s irritating to see all these pundits talk about, “well, when the Dems are back in power …” They’re the ones who are supposed to know what’s going on. If they really believe it’s going to work that way, they’re in total denial.
This is just one example of why the Christian Nationalists want to do away with the Constitution. Especially that pesky First Amendment with those godless Freedoms of Religion, Speech, Press, and Assembly! It totally undermines the authority of the Theocracy they are working to establish and so must be abolished!
Once they have the Theocracy in place, the sectarian wars will quickly begin. Which christian sect will prevail? Place your bets!
