  • I really hope you’re right. I see the signs. But we’ll see.

My god, just give us a good, young, charismatic, progressive candidate who uses Trump’s established FAFO method but to force through things that would actually help everyday Americans - to hell with the corporations, pack the courts, strike down Citizens United, make healthcare free for all, make university free and forgive all outstanding student loans, obviously undo everything Trump did and get every. single. one. if his bootlicking goons the fuck out of the white house and all of the federal agencies. Prison reform, release all non-violent drug offenders, remove drug charges from the violent ones so that they’re in prison for the violence, not for having a little bit of drugs… (we can talk about exceptions, like someone who committed a violent drug crime with a half pound of fentanyl on them… it could be argued that the amount of people likely to have died because of this person, justifies his sentencing and maybe even tick on murder. And then there’s the more libertarian argument: “People should have full control over their bodies and what goes into them. The government stepping in crosses a line.” And, to be honest, I don’t think either perspective is that crazy and both have their merits.

Additionally abolish the DEA, complete drug reform meant to offer help, not punish.

Abolish gerrymandering and fix the election system to be ranked-choice, make voting a national holiday and make it mandatory for all employers to give employees the day off, or a significant amount of time (5 hours?) given during the day to vote for any mission-critical employees who would like to vote in person. CERTIFIABLY mission-critical - as in, the company must submit requests to the federal government in advance detailing the reasons a certain employee is so essential they cannot miss a full day.

While we’re on the topic of voting, expand mail in voting and make it as easy as possible to vote (obviously without compromising security - but we all know the stuff they’ve been passing are simply there to make voting more difficult. Not to mention I’m sure they’ll try to have ICE posted up at every possible polling place. Imagine if it was just an app on your phone. I don’t think something like that would be impossible at all… of course, it would need to be executed flawlessly.

Anyone currently being targeted by ICE (because yes, they will come for you eventually too), PLEASE vote-by-mail. They’re going to try to scare us into not voting at all because Trump knows he’s lost a significant chunk of that “Latinos for Trump” thing. And if they get to the point of deporting left-leaning people just for their political views, this fear will extend beyond minorities.

“They started deporting minorities, including US citizens. I said nothing, for I was not a minority” “Then they came for the majority, and there was nobody left to speak for us”

Most importantly, tax the fucking rich. I want to go back to the days of 90% tax for the top 1%. Develop incentives beyond this to further push rich people to actually SPEND their money, not hoard it. Create an independent commission, including a team of former highly paid tax attorneys, to constantly try to game the IRS in order to snuff out as many loopholes as possible.

It’s like, you may not have voted for me, and you may have been duped into believing many of these things would be bad for you, and that somehow I am a “full-blown communist”, despite these being very universally accepted polices in many many countries, and implemented in every single “first-world” country except for the US, and it isn’t considered radical whatsoever. and THAT, my friend, is because it isn’t. It simply makes sense when you don’t have healthcare lobbyists fucking everything up. Goddammit I will protect your rights, keep you healthy, save you money, increase your wages, and root out as much ACTUAL corruption as possible. Whether you like it or not. And once you see the results, trust me - you are going to like it.

  • What made you support her all along? Just because not-Trump or is there more to it? I’m curious because the last thing I wanted was Trump back in the WH. But at about a week into her campaign, I knew it was going to be a disaster. Her refusal to separate herself from Biden to give him some kind of “respectful send off”, and her refusal to denounce the war in Gaza, also likely forced on her by the establishment. Whether or not she actually would have, who knows. But politically, it was so clearly the right move to make. This was at a point in time where a majority of voters were against the war, and the vast majority of democrats. It would have been so easy. One phone call and the war is over. Always been that way. Now here’s Trump getting all the credit.

AND THEN she gets on stage at the DNC and starts screaming about how we need to build the most lethal fucking military in the history of mankind or some fucking crazy shit like that… GOD it was so painful to watch her make the wrong move every single step of the way.

By the time the election came around, I did vote for Kamala as I live in a swing state. But damn did I not feel good about it. It felt like compromising on my morals and values in the name of damage control instead of sending a message like “hey, you guys fucked up bad, you seemingly did not even attempt to earn my vote beyond “Orange Man Bad” and you’re going to have to make some SERIOUS changes next time around”

Instead, the election was pretty close. Knowing establishment dems, they probably see that as success in a way. Like, “okay, so we did mostly good but need to make a few more tweaks in order to get that last 1-2%!”

  • lol right? the man deported far more people than Trump has so far.

edit: and that’s just the beginning of all the insanely fucked up shit Obama did. It’s so crazy how many people who would refuse to vote for a republican with the same track record, but when it comes to Obama it’s either they literally just don’t even know all he got up to at all (which is insane…) - or somehow as a society we mass-forgot about it all?? I find it so utterly bizarre how many people are like “man if we just had obama back all of our problems would be solved”. I actually think it’s a byproduct of social media not really being a thing, his election came a year after the release of the original iPhone. So people weren’t locked in engaging in inflammatory takes and “news” every single day.

And if you remember, leading up to the 2016 election and Cambridge Analytica, suddenly there were takes left and right ranging from “he’s not REALLY black”, “his wife is a man”, to the whole birth certificate idiocy. If we had social media pre-2008 like we do now, I think the fact that his middle name is Hussein would be enough to derail the entire thing.
