They did that when the TPP was scraped too.
Ann Arbor Michigander
They did that when the TPP was scraped too.
Isn’t that the FCC?
It’s usually to promote business investments in their state as opposed to general trade. There are plenty of governors that do that from both political parties.
The governor of my state just went to the UAE recently to do that, and has done several other trips as well over the years. https://www.michigan.gov/whitmer/news/press-releases/2024/11/25/gov-whitmer-to-meet-with-business-leaders-and-foreign-officials-in-spain
It’s not winning, it’s about “the libs” losing – and that’s enough for them.
Oh that irony would be painful.
Not familiar with New York law. How does the Governor/state remove a mayor?
The thing that makes me hesitant about a freeze is losing the code somehow. Not sure what to do if that happens.
Sadly true. Christians have interpreted their faith to allow slavery, wars, and genocide. Generally the loudest that claim they follow a faith are the ones that least understand it.
AOC for Speaker! Congress needs fixing too.
OMG I totally thought this was supposed to be some weird reference to Tobias Fünke from Arrested Development.
Has a shutdown flight ever actually worked for the minority party?
[Joke about Vance sleeping on the couch.]
Yeah the GOP tried that in Michigan in select cities during the Snyder administration using their “Emergency Manager” law. They tried to save money in Flint by switching to a closer water source and then proceeded to cut corners in that transition process. Obviously things went very poorly.
Sadly, it’s to avoid the political fallout.
“President [Name] under fire after pardoning felons convicted of drug crimes connected to criminal gangs. [Opposition] Party members accuse the White House of making Americans less safe by releasing them onto the streets instead of working harder to lower crime rates.”
So sounds like their main concern is addressing the abuses of the FAANG monopolies, and only a Republican has talked to them about it.
I guess that is understandable in that very narrow lens, but it’s a bit laughable considering how all the big tech companies are also cozying up to the Trump administration. All this has done for me is make me wary of anything Proton does now.
Yoon said he had no choice but to resort to such a measure in order to safeguard free and constitutional order, saying opposition parties have taken hostage of the parliamentary process to throw the country into a crisis.
Not very familiar with the political situation in Seoul, but saying your political opponents are supporting North Korea sounds like a pretty serious accusation.
The best they can do is probably close their Canadian/Mexican plants if the losses are too great, which would increase unemployment in those areas for not only the automotive factories, but also the ones for the automotive suppliers. Even if a Chinese company swoops in to buy the factories, it’d take time to set things up.
