Yeah what I’ve always done is use the previous gaming/workstation PC as a server.
I just finished moving my basic stuff over to newer old hardware that’s only 6-7 years old, to have lots of room to grow and add to it. It’s a 9700k (8c/8t) with 32GB of ram and even a GTX 1080 for the occasional video transcode. It’s obviously overkill right now, but I plan to make it last a very long time.

I feel like Trump’s quote here from the article is even worse than the headline suggests.
First is the use of the word eradicate rather than prosecute. It’s a much more dehumanizing tone, as if there a bunch of pests that need to be wiped out.
And second, which is no surprise but is even more worrying, is how much praise he put on Bondi there. That means loyalty to a person rather than to a nation or constitution.
I will be able to tell my grandchildren I voted directly against the horrors they will be* learning about in history class. No need for supporting arguments about how doing otherwise was a more genuine rejection of this fucked up system.

Criticizing somebody’s choice implies that they had a choice to make and exercised it, not that they didn’t or shouldn’t have had the choice. Hell, the people that voted FOR this shit also exercised democracy in doing so.

Thanks for this. I’ve recently been recreating my home server on good hardware and have been thinking it’s time to jump into selfhosting more stuff. I’ve used Docker a bit, so I guess I’ll have to do it the right way. It’s always good to know what choices now will avoid future issues.
