Everyone in the department has been pretty clear that the director has no real way to influence the numbers. I suppose they could just release a fake document, but that wouldn’t be very tenable in the long term.
See, my current employer leaves that up to our managers. Some managers consider all sick leave PTO, some consider it “do whatever you need to do” and it’s kinda insane.

I’ve not read the article, but this isn’t a case of someone getting what they voted for. This is directly affecting their kid, who likely didnt vote for this.

That’s insane to me. I’m all for not drug testing the guy working at McDonald’s, but anyone overseeing the safety of others sends like a common sense group to test.

I think it very much depends on the situation. If I’m already securely housed and have reliable income for food? No fucking way. If I have a kid who might end up living on the street (or honestly, taken from me by the state) if I don’t find money? I’d at least give this a fleeting thought.

The device isn’t sold to the child, it’s sold to the parent. There is zero similarity between a parent buying a phone and handing it to the kid unmonitored, and a bar selling a beer to a 13 year old.
