None of the top democracies have term limits for their representatives. Term limits do nothing to prevent people from electing shitheads.


That’s true, for a certain kind of crowd at least. But those aren’t really negative stereotypes.


Yes, it’s uncanny how he embodies literally every negative stereotype about Americans. The list goes on: he is obese, brash and bigoted. Has an education, but is uneducated, monolingual and bordering on illiterate. Claims to follow a religion, but is an atheist who knows nothing about said religion. Glorifies violence and war, but is a coward. I guess there isn’t a stereotype about Americans being rapists and paedos, but Trump is working on changing that as well.


As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.


Petrol is still cheap (here it’s over $10 per gallon), and so long as the US continues to severely undertax it, the US (and global) economy is going to keep paying the price.
