The funds, or painting itself, should be returned to the families it was stolen from. That family was very likely Jewish. So you saying “give it to Palestine!” implies taking from Jewish people, which would be unfair, but in this context also implies they “owe” it because Israel is to blame, and Jews=Israel.

I’ve seen this response a ton and I think that’s exactly correct, but I can’t imagine the anxiety in the hours, day and weeks after. Just waiting and wondering if anyone recognised you, if anyone had a recording/proof. Then after a few months under the radar I might not be a complete train wreck.

if this whole thing were actually about stopping foreign illegal workers, it would be quite easy to just arrest the bosses of any company found to be using them. 1 year in jail and a $2000 for ever worker found to be without proper paperwork. Give the workers half the fine money and a bus ticket back with a warning and put them on a list. They probably deserve more for the abuse they had to tolerate so their American boss could make their money.

Not reading article, don’t actually care. American Express can suck it. They put the average person through hell to get $10,000 credit. They should have been more responsible with this person. Unless they can show they did the usually consideration, gradually upping her credit over time with responsible limits, that’s just the risk of doing business.
