    Everyone suggesting forks like librewolf or whatever are missing the most important point… all these forks are downstream… so if you kill firefox, you kill all the downstream forks (unless someone willing to do the heavy lifting and work full time on one of the forks)

    If people are willing to kill firefox over some stupid features the can be opt-out, then you are cutting your nose to spite your face (and hand it over to google/chrome)

    firefox is literally the only thing stopping/slowing google/chrome total control of internet standards

    That has ALWAYS been the case. I dont know why people are surprised now… ubuntu has alqays been backed by canonical. And it has always been based on the work of debian. What did people expect?

    People have always been saying to just skip the corporate bullshit and go straight to the source… debian

    Unfortunately there was a very loud group of people online shitting on debian, saying that it’s too difficult or user friendly or whatever… may have been true 10 years ago, but not anymore

    i’ve been using android since 2007… and the home screen paradigm for me has always been a customizable dock at the bottom with an app drawer button in the middle, and multiple home screens with whatever widgets you want…

    i’ve tried almost all the suggestions for a nova replacement and almost all of them break my workflow i’ve used for almost 20 years. it’s very frustrating. it seems like the latest launchers fall into two camps…
    “minimalist”, no widgets, have to search everything with keyboard
    “modern”, takes a lot of cues from iOS on the home screen

    that’s the problem with finding a “nova replacement”… almost everyone’s “nova” is completely different from each other… does anyone have a suggestion for a launcher that carries on the old school android layout, but also FOSS? (GO launcher still maintains the old-school paradigm, but not FOSS)
