Israeli military bulldozers have demolished most of a Palestinian Bedouin village in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, taking out the hamlet’s infrastructure and leaving residents wandering amid the rubble of their homes.

Nine homes, five tents and five animal pens were demolished, said Mohammed Rabia, head of the village council in the area.

COGAT, the Israeli military body responsible for administrative affairs in the occupied West Bank, said it demolished the buildings because they were built illegally in an area designated as a closed firing zone.

Palestinians have long said that securing Israeli permission to build in the West Bank is nearly impossible.

          Hey, unball your fists and relax, okay? You’re right, I was wrong, you advocated voting for Harris, and well done. Okay?

          We’re gonna get through this, if we can get midterms to go our way and continue the change of the DNC that involves holding Israel to account. (And trump, for that matter.)

          The comment section of Lemmy is not a useful battleground except for trolls and the GRU. Although I’m impressed you had all those ready to go! And I think focusing on their failures in Palestine was only ever going to hurt them at the ballot box - no one asked either of us.

            Thanks, it’s very irritating when people falsely assume my positions, even if I’ve repeatedly done the opposite of what they claim.

            Pivoting on Israel would have been a significant gain during the election, as dozens of poll on policy show. But that’s yesterday’s news. Palestine is still a critical component of the current resistance against fascism in America. Progressives gaining control of the Democratic Party are our best shot to a genuine opposition to fascism going forward. I do hope elections can be a meaningful path for this opposition, but from what I’ve learned about fascism/imperialism/colonialism and resistance movements that have successfully overthrown them; armed struggle, while a last resort, can never be ruled out
