Summary

Donald Trump is pressuring Jordan and Egypt to accept his plan to relocate nearly 2 million Palestinians from Gaza, threatening to cut U.S. aid if they refuse.

His proposal, which aims to transform Gaza into “the Riviera of the Middle East,” has sparked backlash from Middle Eastern leaders, including Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is engaging regional leaders but has avoided confirming whether Palestinians could return.

Analysts argue Trump’s approach risks further destabilizing the region and undermining U.S. influence in Middle East diplomacy.

Many people on Lemmy do not care about Palestinians. Oh, sure, they claim they care while pointing fingers and accusing people of supporting genocide, but lately I’ve been asking if people will write an email to a politician or a celebrity or a business leader, anyone who has the ability to talk to the media, and ask them to use that ability to talk about the plight of Palestinians. One person, and not a person I asked directly, said they would email their Senator.

And at this point, I have to wonder how many of the people right now very happy to accuse others of supporting genocide will be sitting on a private beach at a resort in Gaza because, “I know it’s really terrible what happened here, but it was such a bargain!”

It’s almost like after months of having their concerns dismissed and being called Russian plants or whatever else people aren’t inclined to engage in political action alongside the kinda kinds of people who they think said those things. Oh well, at least this is just a silly thing that happens on social media and doesn’t have any relevance at all to the Democratic party’s ability to turn out votes or anything /s

e; fixed a typo and added some words to make my point clearer

Yes, giving up because it’s hard and people are meanies and just endlessly arguing about an election that ended months ago is what you and others have decided is the plan on Lemmy. I have already noted it.

I can see you will not be rising to that challenge to email anyone.

Oh they never emailed them even when they were loud. I did, but I don’t know if they cared.

They may not care, but actually trying is better than pointing fingers at each other. Unfortunately “point fingers at each other” seems to be what people prefer in general.
