The State Department says it's preparing a limited release of commemorative U.S. passports celebrating America’s 250th birthday and featuring a picture of President Donald Trump.
As noted elsewhere, there’s only 25-30k total being produced and only for people who apply in person in DC. You’re not going to get one of these unexpectedly.
I think the point is to make it more likely that people who like Trump will get passports, and less likely for people who don’t like Trump. Then when you say that voters need to have passports to vote, you have a structural advantage.
the point is to make travel for people who don’t like him even more pain in the ass
any population that can travel freely can protest
any population that can’t freely travel cain’t

I mean, odds are somebody is going to apply in person in DC without realizing it’s a thing. Just not most people.
I’m guessing they would ask you first (and the office would be slathered in Trump-Passport posters).
I am somewhat surprised it’s not just a ‘which one would you like’. I wouldn’t have thought the logistical concerns would be that major?
