Him and Usha we’re a political marriage, but I don’t think he thought people would be this racist. Which is why he keeps talking about how he wishes she was Christian but “people are different”. It’s not acceptance, it’s the groundwork for them saying the only valid marriages are between a Christian man and a Christian woman (probably more children).
