    I am now, but 20 years ago I wasn’t and I still had my yearly performance review and talked to my boss about raises.

        It’s not about getting a raise, it’s about asking for it.

        Anecdotally, my biggest raises were also switching jobs, but that’s not the point i (or the meme) was making.

      So you got a raise every year to either match or outpace the rate of inflation?

      Most performance reviews I have had my desire for more pay was dismissed. And they did that because they knew I couldn’t easily find something better

        I don’t think my raises are relevant, the point is that nobody lost their mind. Did they lose their mind in your performance reviews?

          If they fucking start code switching and saying stupid shit to dismiss you for a reasonable request then yeah that is not of sound mind.
