You have to ask for the money. No one is going to throw it at your feet.

Job before last, boss offers me a raise, told him I thought I should be making at least $50K. “I thought I was paying you that? OK, if you feel your work is worth that, I’ll get with payroll and see where we currently are.” Got a fatter raise.

Hell, even working a shit job at Lowe’s had me an offer on a raise within a few months. Was chatting with the GM in his office one day about a thing I thought should be fixed. He very pointedly told me that if someone working for him felt they were doing a good job and deserved more pay, even if it wasn’t time for a scheduled raise, he would be glad to talk about it. HINT. I quit in a huff very soon after that, but at the time we were both trying to get time to meet.

“Fortune favors the bold.” True both figuratively and literally.
