    The problem seems to be that consequences no longer matter. I say that to be a bit extreme, but it might hold to be true.

    The NYC mayoral race includes Andrew Cuomo. He felt it nessisarry to resign based on allegations of sexual misconduct. Maybe it was worse than that, probably, but it further proves my point.

    You can’t resign and then immediately run again. I guess from a strictly moral level you’re at least being honest this time, but you can’t just admit to things and then move on immediately.

    For some reason you can just admit to a crime and then move on for free?

      He didn’t admit to anything as far as I know. He resigned because of the optics, the released a “sorry you misinterpreted my actions” type apology. He’s an unrepentant piece of shit.
