I think that might be oversimplifying things. The media have been very effective at promulgating the myth that the left stands for unlimited immigration, soft approach to crime and foreign policy, and generous handouts to lower socioeconomic groups paid for by the state and taxpayers. Fear of the negative consequences of these policies often drives people to vote further right.

Well, none of that is unique to AOC so I don’t see why she would be singled out in being “extreme.”
