‘I would say they’re too expensive because we inherited a disastrous Biden economy, and we’re making progress,’ the Vice President told Fox News
JD Vance admits the prices of groceries and housing are “too expensive” but once again has laid blame at the feet of the "disastrous Biden economy,” despite the Trump administration having taken the reins more than eight months ago.
“Housing is too expensive, groceries are too expensive. Now, I would say they’re too expensive because we inherited a disastrous Biden economy, and we’re making progress,” Vance said, speaking to Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle.
The vice president made the remarks Friday when discussing the struggling U.S. economy and its potential link to a surge in popularity for Democratic New York mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani.
That is a weak counterargument. 8 months are not enough to fix things like “Housing is too expensive” even for people who know what they are doing. And Trump’s team is surely not this kind of people.
pretty easy to make it not worse though, which they are distinctly not doing. you reeeeaaaalllly wanna defend this administration in like anyway?
Is this “they’re making it worse” in the above argument?
That counter argument only works if you plugged your ears every time they said they would have it fixed in the first week or that the tariffs would make it better quickly.
Are you saying it is Biden’s fault and Trump just needs more time?
No, I’m not. I’m just pointing out that the counterargument is weak.
I can see that perspective, but for the more sophisticed we can describe the tariffs and labor issues.
It’s also fair game because he kept saying “day one” he was totally going to fix things. If he’s stupid enough to make those claims, he deserves to be evaluated against those claims, no matter how impossible they would be in the best of times.
