I mean, that’s literally impossible as the prices don’t have a line item for tariff increases (as it’s not directly passed on to consumers).

So what you end up with is basically a money transfer to all these business from working class Americans, just another way Trump has stolen from us.

Maybe not automatically, but all these businesses absolutely passed the tariffs on to consumers. Just look at how much prices of everything have risen since Trump started this tariff nonsense. Do you think they’ll give some of it to us when they get their refunds? Or even lower prices?? There is no way.

Giant corporations are just as much to blame for stealing from us, which is why rich, out of touch billionaires and CEOs overwhelmingly support this administration, even when it does illegal acts…

Absolutely, tariffs absolutely increased prices. But it’s not a set amount/percentage for all goods. Many businesses probably couldn’t break down the exact “cost” of the tariffs as many prices (and tariffs) for even materials have been highly volatile.

On the otherhand business know exactly how much the government charged them. This being effectively a wealth transfer to businesses has been called out for a long time now.

Stay with me for a minute. Fuck the businesses, all of them. This is a country of people and they are the harmed party.

(total USD in from tariffs to be illegal) / (population of US) = (individual refund amount)

This is a country that voted for tariffs and Trump. This is what we get for allowing Trump to get elected. It might suck, but people need to face the consequences of their actions.

You can’t retroactively decide tariffs should go to consumers. Businesses paid for them. Not refunding businesses would require breaking the law and the reason we’re in this mess is because people (Trump) have been ignoring the rule of law.

Sure you could have the government write a check to everyone, but I’m not really in the mood for the government to spend even more money it doesn’t have (just for a “refund”)
