I know this is a step in the right direction, but can anyone tell me why people are acting as if this is the nail in Trump’s coffin? I live in Michigan. This doesn’t affect me or the views of those around me who will still likely vote red next election. New York is progressive, so this isn’t surprising, is it?
New York is America’s financial core, and it’s now socialist. I think the entirety of the elections last night too are very telling. NJ flipped more blue. Virginia, blue. Just a measure of the pulse at the moment.
Mamdani’s election is encouraging but let’s not jump the gun and call NYC socialist. There are a million reasons why implementing his policy proposals will be difficult. Now is not the time to become complacent. We started the race strong but the finish line is nowhere in sight.
There were five elections yesterday. All went blue suggesting a rebuke of Trump. Some were expected but its a reassuring sweep.
The next presidential election is VERY far away with the current news cycle. I agree that this is good news, but I don’t know what the future holds.
Its more proof that the ghosts of Soviet past are being exorcized. Politicians can’t say “oh hes a communist” and scare people when the “communist” just wants to help feed, clothe and house you and your family
