Maurene Comey, who prosecuted Jeffrey Epstein and is former FBI Director James Comey’s daughter, was fired Wednesday from her job in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, according to two people familiar with the matter who were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Absolutely - they can be used as evidence before the courts. If the press has already declared someone guilty, a fair trial is no longer possible.

No I mean: is any kind of trial going to happen at all?

It’s been almost 6 years since Epstein didn’t kill himself, and there’s no sign of any further prosecutions coming from it. What gives you the impression anything is going to happen here?

Probably the same Liberal naïveté that makes the Dem leadership keep pretending that anything good can come from negotiating with fascists and reminding them of the rules they don’t think apply to them

It’s not easy to shake off a lifetime of being told “Nobody’s above the law” and all that crap, but it is entirely crap. The rich and well-connected are miles above the law. It’s a miracle when any of them face justice, and it’s not happening in this case, certainly.

I think it’s more about fair political consequences. I think you’re absolutely right though, and what you brought up needs to be considered as well.

Any lawyer would argue that a fair trial is not possible if these pages were published and the press ran multiple articles on the topic. They would be right, too. It’s shitty, but if we want these people to do time, publishing is not the best option.

Whose lawyer would be arguing that?

They already charged and convicted Maxwell. Espstein is dead. Prince Andrew has been shrugging off lawsuits since 2004.

There is no trial for anyone left. There will not be justice. The best we can hope for is that the historical legacies of these people are stained for the rest of tjne.
